In 2005, the interior of the lift was renovated.  The old carpeting was removed from the walls, uncovering the classic Art Deco features that were original. The plastic tiles on the floor were also replaced. 

Here is the look after the wooden paneling and stainless steel accents were installed.  It was modeled after the interior of the lift at the famous Art Deco Chrysler Building in New York.
